Hi! I’m Dave from Boyinaband.com and I have a feeling that in later life I’m going to regret making that my catchphrase.
I’m a 22 year old, living in Telford, England – a town famous for being both the highest concentration of roundabouts in the UK and having the highest teen pregnancy rate (my pride knows no bounds.)
I am an experienced music producer and I want to:
- Help other people to learn how to make their productions sound more professional…
- Expand their horizons about all the amazing music that’s out there, and…
- Build a community of people who also wish to learn and teach.
Why you should care about what I have to say
If qualifications are your thing, I passed my BTEC Music Technology course with a distinction, as well as recently completing my degree with honours in BSc Computer Games Programming and Computer Games Design at university, where I focused on audio for games.
But perhaps more important is my practical experience: I’ve been producing music for over 5 years now, with 4 of those years spent in my home studio. I’ve recorded bands, produced electronic music and recorded bands that produce electronic music (That would be my band.)
Since Picking up the Bass Guitar at age 16, I’ve explored the mediums of Turntables, Synths, Drums, Guitar, Vocals and Computer Music respectively (Though as of yet, not all at once.)
I have huge passions for music, video games and the Internet. Sticking to the former, since it’s more relevant to this blog – I love music of pretty much all kinds, not limited to; Cheesy boyband pop, growly death metal, obnoxious gangstuh rap and euphoric uplifting trance. Preferably in the same song.
I’m a perfectionist – I spend hours of my time and all of my money trying to find out how to make things sound professional. Then I put what I learn into videos so you can learn the same things that took me years of painful trial and error to figure out in under 10 minutes at a time.
I will not claim I’m an expert by any means, but I do have a lot of experience and I’m always learning new things. As I do so, I will be sure to pass on what I learn through this site.
My band, my blog and my dream
I’ve been in bands for about 7 years, my current band “You and What Army” has been going for nearly 3 years now. In that time, we’ve been on National TV, been on the brink of being signed by big labels, supported signed bands and toured all over the UK.
I’ve been blogging for about 2 years, with this site having existed for over a year. It has grown considerably over that time and continues to do so.
As both my band and my blog grow, so do my ideas – I have big hopes for what I can accomplish by combining my passions for music, the internet, British humour and trying to help people for free.
Still want to know more?
