Okay! So the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the announcement for the winner and runners up for the Hip Hop composition competition!

There were a bunch of awesome songs submitted and it was frickin’ difficult to rank them, but I stuck to the 3 things I said I was going to judge it on:

- Production
- Originality
- Sour lemon test (How much it makes you pull a face like you’ve eaten a Sour Lemon)

As well as including the votes from the forum as a fourth category.

Hey there guys!

A few things…

The New Site

So the new site design for 2010 is now up! What do you think? Let me know in the comment box below!

Also, if anything is missing, any links are broken or anything looks out of place be sure to let me know – unless you’re using internet explorer 7 or lower, in which case I know there’s a dodgy thing going on with the search bar. All you have to do is download google chrome (It’s much faster than internet explorer anyway!) and it’ll look just fine.

So you might be wondering what to check out! Well, there are some shiny new about pages with new content on, the services section is massively updated with a bunch of new things on there, the FAQ section is up now and – probably most anticipated – is the sample pack page under the “Resources” tab, with links to all the free samples I provide!

I’ve also got a video on the “About the Boy” page – I’ll try to find time to make more videos to accompany the text, since I know it’s a lot more fun to watch something than to read something in some cases!   EDIT: I accidentally made the video standard size instead of widescreen so it’s currently ripping down the wider version, I’ll put that version up as soon as I wake up!

So yeah, be sure to check out the new content, then leave me a comment or send me an e-mail to let me know what you think! (With the shiny new contact page ! Oooh….)

The Hip Hop Composition Competition

The winners of the competition will be announced later today! It’ll be in the evening (GMT) that I put out the winners, then I’ll contact them via the e-mails they registered on the forum with to arrange giving them their prizes!

Just so you don’t think I’ve been slacking off, I thought I’d keep you in the loop : )

As I said in the December video blog, I’ve had a lot of ideas – well over the past week I’ve been working hard creating the new website and content for it.   I was originally going to post it up today, but I’ve had so many ideas that I haven’t been able to fit all of them into the week!

So my plan is this – I’ll release the new boyinaband.com site on Monday 11th January, 2010 (I know I didn’t really have to specify 2010, but I still enjoy writing 2010 as much as possible… 2010.) which is the same day I’ll be announcing the winner of the Hip Hop Composition Competition!

Incidentally, entries to said competition are now closed – to everyone that’s entered, be sure to get your friends to vote for you on the forum! (Check the competitions page for more info)

Anyway – yeah, remember the date for your calendars is (in big writing so you don’t forget)…

I really can’t wait to see what you all think of the new design.   I’ll hopefully be releasing daily video content from then on as well, so there’s a lot to look forward to.   As a bit of a sneak peak, I’ll tell you that I’ve recently got my Fractal Audio Axe Fx Ultra guitar modeller which I intend to explore thoroughly in some videos!
