Difference Between MPC 500 and 1000

Postby Kelby » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:37 pm

So I'm looking into either getting Akai's MPC 500 or 1000 but I'm trying to decide on which one. I'm trying to budget myself but I'm having a hard time choosing. I've looked on Akai's website and other sties for specs and details but it doesn't seem like there's much difference besides 12 pads vs 16 pads. Does anyone have experience trying out both of them? Are there any other major or minor difference between them?

It really depends on what you need it for.

The MPC 500 runs on batteries, so it's perfectly portable for when you need it, but the MPC 1000 has 16 pads, and more Inputs/Outputs

If your only real concern is the pads, the only advantage is more sounds that can be loaded onto the pads, and 16 pads feels more "correct" in my personal opinion, since it's equal amount of pads on each side.

That being said, the MPC 500 is $600 and the MPC 1000 is $1000.

I recommend getting the MPC 500
