Laptop Issues

Postby es-cee » Thu Jun 09, 2011 5:24 pm

hi every1, i'm new here so i hope this is in the right section.

just wondering whats the best way to boost my laptops performance as i'm running reason 5 and when i try play back a track i'm in the middle of making i get and error message telling me,

"computer too slow to play song, please optimize the song (see the documentation). the song can still be exported as an audio file. audio is re-enabled by pressing play or stop".

i have a toshiba laptop with windows 7 home premium 32 bit,
processor AMD athlon x2 dual-core QL-65 2.10GHz
RAM 2.00GB (1.75 GB usable)

so i'm thinkin this should be well enough to cover what i need, shouldn't it?

any help greatly appreciated.

cheers,

es-cee

Hmm pretty weird. You must have enormous projects. Are you sure your CPU isn't limited to low? (preferences)

i'm not sure tbh, i'll check now but about the projects, its just a 2 minute intro of a track that i'm workin on really, so i was really surprised when i got the message as ya can imagine.

i'll check my processor now.

nah just in your Reason preferences, there is something that says "CPU limit". I have mine on 80.

Nah i wouldn't do that if you don't want it to crash. There must be something else taking up lotsa CPU running while you work on reason

Go on Control Panel and search 'performance information and tools', then click on 'adjust visual effects', then 'adjust for best performance'. It doesn't look as pretty but it might help (not sure how much).
