I had a teacher once that told me the reason Macs do not slow down and Windows does is because Windows keeps working with liiiiittle files that link stuff together, the more you use it, the more those files pop up. So you need to keep it clean sometimes. Don't know what's true about it, but i do know that my 8 year old mac takes 30 secs to start up, where my windows that has a better processor and more RAM and is less used takes about 5 mins. Same thing with programs...

And ipod is just style. Nothing more, nothing less. I like the looks of it though, so i got that too. Haha. I'm such a fanboy :p

That's Mac's trademark. Hell, i still work on a 4 year old XP of 1000 euros, which works a million times better than a new Windows 7 for the same value. I also still work on a 8 year old iMac which I have had no trouble working with at all. 2 GB RAM, barely 2 Ghz intel dual core, and i can work with logic with a couple of Massive instances, rewired to Reason and controlled by a shitload of controllers without latency troubles. I'm sorry, I do indeed not know a lot about computer, and frankly, i don't give a shit, because people keep telling me what is better, when, obviously, the Mac for me is better. All of my windowses have crashed at least once in 3 years period. My mac has never even got stuck. Not once. No viruses, no slowing down with the age. Maybe it's because i don't know how to treat my windows, but hey, then i prefer the easy way and choose Mac, which doesn't need treating.

Well... dll-hell is still there... Right. And that sucks ass...
Here are a few things about mac that really bother me:
- poor possibility to upgrade the system without buying a complete new system
- they are still fucking expensive. And that is NOT because of the hardware they use. You can get pretty much the same hardware (since they changed to intel) for at least 30% less. The rest is the aplle-symbol and the OS. So you buy a MacBook (just as an example) for 999€ (Core2Duo @2,4 GHz and 2 gig Ram). The last 300€ (at least) are the OS... And MacUsers complain about Windows being expensive ;-)

And really? A friend of mine bougt a laptop for about 599€. Nice CPU 4 Gig DDR3 Ram. Acceptable Graphics-Chip. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit was included. That was a year ago... And there are no complaints. Runs as fast at in the beginning and is quite low on meintenance...
The trick ist NOT to install every shitty program you can get. So is not littered with crappy coded shit you have to clean up ^^

There is just a lot dumb prejudice about windows out there. And (like the dumb shit about Mac or Linux) the biggest part of is just hatin or envy.

Maybe I helped but most likely I was quite useless. Comment on my tracks to show me how it's to be done! Please?

i never complained about Windows being expensive, i think no mac user does. We are well aware Mac is heavily overpriced, but, if you ask me, it's worth it. You pay 300 for an average DAW too. You even get a free DAW with Mac, Garageband. I just hate the interface of Windows 7. Also, the moment we got it, EVERY SINGLE TIME i start it up, it immediatly asks me to update this and download that and it ANNOYS THE FUCK OUT OF ME. It's faster than the windows XP, for sure, but it's slower to work with because i'm not used to it, and frankly, i don't wanna be..

I was left in the dust on this conversation ><

I'll try to hit a few of the more important points.

* XP was the shit once they had SP3 (most of the bugs ironed out) and it was 2006 where computers were way stronger than 2001 (XP's initial release).
* I would still be using XP if it supported more than 3GB of RAM. =(
* Windows ME was horrifying.
* Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate can go back to the "classic" windows style.
* Windows 7 is WAY better than Vista. Hell, even MS admitted Vista was full of mistakes.

Macs are really expensive but in my opinion worth it. I always had problems with windows running slow and everything and the trackpad being dodgy or crashes and stuff. Macs for me just run better and like Rmonik said neither my MBP or imac have run any slower then when i first bought them. and im not saying windows is bad or anything just that i like macs better.....

For me, the difference is in how you use it, not as much the OS themselves. I like macs because I think I'd be more focused on them compared to a PC. With windows you can spend weeks enhancing the shit out of your computer and tweaking this and that to no end. With macs, you turn it on, it works, and that's it. Yes, a well-tweaked PC might run faster than a mac (still, this is probably a pretty subjective thing), but the time spent tweaking your PC to be fast doesn't make up for the time that you could be using to make music on your mac.
