This.

Also, the video links to the original version of "Contact" by Foreign Beggars and Noisia - anyone else heard Noisia's remix of that song? When I heard it I was like

Brian Mod-fish, and the song is KaliIsFuckingAwesome (it was a favor)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzpqQgfiUmQ

okay I'm a noob but this is what i got. what i did to achieve the drop (well my song has 2) is that i had a completely different part of the song with different synths for the chorus and drop (please do note that i don't have a keyboard so everything was with a mouse) but i turned down the frequency, and messed with the octaves with the 3 synth filters. after desired effect, if turned off decay so it wouldn't lose volume. (note i don't know how to use other stuff I'm just messing around with Thor right now...) so after that i made a low level for my drop by, you guessed it, making another Thor... this time i turned two to sine wave and the other i believe was a multi wave? i turned down the two sine waves octaves to achieve a low bassy effect without changing my notes, and fine tuned the settings for a bit to make it FILTHIER!!!

thanks for reading! i don't think i'll win but it is good to try to get my name out...

Hey there guys! Let's clear some things up:

I'll allow anything so long as you have full copyright ownership of the track - remixes that you are allowed to do are fine. Ripping off other people's songs is not fine. Simples! :D

Quite a few people have mentioned Electro House - I'll be sure to think about that for the next competition :D Why don't you give DnB/Dubstep a go? You might like it!

In fact, if you do an Electro House track with dubstep basses and structure, I'll let you get away with calling it "Electro-Step" or whatever, so if you think your bass is dirty enough to compete with DnB/Dubstep tracks, go for it!

Multiple basses is fine! If you can explain how you made them all that's great, but so long as you specify which bass you're describing in the tutorial, there's no problem :D

And be sure to post your track as a new topic! Not as a reply to this topic :)

Does the whole track need to be filthy? I mean yesterday when you posted this I finally got an idea for a track (after a month of dry inspiration), but even though it's holding a pretty damn dirty bass, I'm not sure I could call the track filth (it's got some sweet melodies etc). I mean, think this:

It's sweet as syrup, but still got some powerful basses.

I think that should be just fine since there is a very dirty bass in it. I mean, I don't think you can make anything very original and unique if it's supposed to be just brainless filth. Besides one of Daves examples of a filthy track was Skrillex which I think is dirty but pretty harmless. Just my thought tho.
