The idea is to create the first thing that springs to mind when you hear the genre's name, so i'd stick with two days. Maybe three days, max.

Anyone think this is a good idea?

I do. It was really inspiring to write a song in the limited time I had, but as I could only work for about 2 to 3 hours, I immediately chose the genre I am most confident with. I believe I would learn a lot more if a specific genre was laid out. Maybe there could even be a specific requirement like a specific (odd?) instrument that you need to incorporate? Every month a new kind of added challenge?

How about just a new challenge each week, not added. We obviously know we can produce a track in 48 hours at this point, so just kinda like what hennox said. Maybe have to incorporate a certain vocal sample, or have to include more than 2 scales in the track, etc...

Okay, so you know how a lot of forums have a "sig of the month" competition or something like that? Well we could do something like that! A weekly competition maybe? And we vote for the winners? And then like the winner gets some kind of perk? Maybe a say to what genre the next week is (with some way to make sure they can't cheat), or they get to help judge the next one ? And then we could keep a running post of who has won, with runners up, etc. The schedule could be like: Friday night, challenge is announced; we have the weekend to work, with submissions due sunday night; Voting/judging will take place from then until wednesday, with the winner announced wednesday, and then the new challenge should be prepared for friday.

well jeah, I meant new challenge every time of course :-). Otherwise we'll end up with something undoable over time I guess :p

Umm, I know this seems a bit late to reply but can someone tell me who won the competition or if it was a competition? My friends think I'm hiding something -.-
