Sex.. and Babies? Combine your favorite features from all of them.

the sound engine of cube base/pro tools , all the shortcuts for pro tools, the synths/features in reason, the piano roll in FL (and sytrus), the session view in ableton, as well as warp mode...

it would be one huge mess, the sound engine of most daws literally has minimal differences. And that would never happen seeing as nobody wants to create the perfect DAW and there's literally nothing perfect in this world (Except for Carly Rae Jepsen). There would still be problems and bugs, like features of one countering with another. The thing that sets appart cubase from every other DAW is to export an analogue mixdown which gives it a nice, full, rich feel to a the track(without adding externel FX like iZotope Ozone)

I personally would like that feature in FL

ableton + the automation in reason + the piano roll in reason + the track lane general info thingy from logic (in the top left when a track is selected). Oh and better autotune integration, like in reason.

Oh and reason's easy self containing thingy. Just one file for one project. So easy.

I'd actually do what Rmonik put except FLs piano roll instead of Reasons.

Why aren't people making this? In fact, why doesn't reason just open up VST support. They'd probably dominate the market

Because it wouldn't be Reason anymore. The one spelcial thing about Reason is that you have these built in synths and samplers that you can do so much with, that gives you this feeling that you're so much better than everyone that uses VST-compatible DAWs. That feeling is destroyed if you'd do that. It would also remove the possibilities of ReWire.

On the other hand, it would be easier to collab with producers that doesn't use Propellerhead software (for some Reason)...

That had zero valid points, the only valid point that I've heard is that it makes it less stable, but only if you are actually running vsts so wtf

I gotta agree with rune here, but i DO get that they do not want to compromise the uniqueness of the reason concept by pursuing the same workflow and general operation of the other, more standard DAWs. Reason has always been stepping away from the convention yet being closely relatable by the old-timers, since all the devices are really just software imitations of the hardware they are used to, and the patching workflow is similar too. However, as they have not done a very good job with these (or at least not all of them), they could make room for improvement, which i guess is possible with the rack extensions, but that kinda fluked for me, as they seem terribly overpriced to me (reason already is a very expensive DAW as it is).

So that, stability, and actual integration possibility are the only reasons (no pun intended) i can think of.

Well as someone that does own the type of gear they imitate, which is already what VSTs usually do. I don't get why they don't integrate the patching stuff into a wrapper that has audio in, audio out, and the same automation capabilities as normal wrappers. I was about to say to invent their own format but then I realized they did, but it was so unconveniently handled and expensive that I barely consider it.
