I am 38 years old and began playing guitar when I was 13-14 years old back in 87'-88'. I listened to Slayer (which I still do), Metallica (pre 1990's), Death Angel, Sepultura, Megadeth, Led Zeppelin and Randy Rhoads. The only guitar music I like nowadays is TOMMY EMMANUEL. if you don't know him, you should, imo.
I discovered this "dubstep" back in december when some guy friend requested me on facebook, which I accepted. Next thing he does is invites me to his little "FB group" called Musical Fr33dom. I'm thinking, what the hell is this shit. Someone always inviting me into something I probably don't want to bother with you know? Well I check out his group and I notice in the description that it's about EDM, which gets me intrigued slightly. I scroll through some posts and come across EXCISION Shambhala 2011 Remix on youtube. Holy-mother-of-all-things-that-are-frickin'-awesome!!!! I was immediately hooked deep in the jaw as the robot voices were pounding through and It's as if someone teleported me back in time when I was 8 years old watching Star Wars, playing with my transformers and Voltron figures. So yeah, I love dubstep.
Last month a new friend of mine recommended FL Studio so I gave it a shot. I had no clue what this software was or how it operated, but I quickly learned! So I've been writing my own "Electronic" music, incorporating the robot sounds since. I love it! I've been inspired in writing more "Electronic" songs than what I've done over the past year and a half with my guitar. Okay enough rambling. Thanks!
