How long should it take to make a first EP?

Hey guys!
For a big part of my course, I have to do a project which will form a portfolio to help me get into whatever profession I hope to get into when I'm older. In my case, that is production. In order to do this, I've decided to make an EP over the course of two months. However, the brief asked me to make a GAANT chart, which is really a pre-planned timeline of my work. For me, this will include composition, recording, producing, release and promotion, at the most basic level. However, since i've never released an EP, I really don't know what is realistic with timescales.

What do you guys think would be a realisitic timescale? I'm super stuck. ):

3-4 original songs, maybe a cover or two, perhaps even one or two collabs (which may take up original song space).

Still to decide on the genre, might be a form of electro house, DnB, something-step, or Industrial. In any case, i'm using Reason 6, and I can get a hardware interface from the college (or a loan from the bank of dad for a Focusrite Sapphire) in order to use my microphones or guitar on tracks if i feel like it.

Writing/recording the tracks will probably take the longest part. Put at least a month aside for that, if not longer. Spend the rest of it mixing and getting it sounding good. You might think about the odd bit of promo here and there during this stage, since you have everything in some form. You can't promote something that doesn't exist yet ;)
