GUYSGUYSGUYS: What do you want in a Chat System?

Now that the Share Your Music section system has been spiced up (Thanks, Armahillo!), we're looking to the Forum's chat system as one of the next ports of call for development.

What things do you guys want in the Chat that don't already exist?

So far I've got:

- Stability (So we don't have to refresh the page when it decides to randomly break like it seems to currently)

And, uh... that's pretty much it. But I figured you guys would have more thoughts! Let us know

I feel like it should use an already widely used chat environment like IRC or something? I've had good experience with forums utilizing that

Maybe something similar to Facebook's chat? where you can talk to 1 person real time privately

Ooh! Ooh! We should be able to make our own private chatrooms in the chatbox so that those that don't want to give out personal info can more effectively collaborate with other members or just have straight up discussions

All of this sounds like an IRC would work well.

IRC is the way to go I think. If you can keep it where it is now that's be great, I like it there!

A user pane that shows customisable info, like soundcloud links, what we produce, gear list etc,

I like what everyone's saying. :3 and maybe a little sound that you could toggle on/off like Facebook. Something like the old Facebook, that isn't freaking annoying. And @Elementz, wouldn't that already be on your profile? :3
