Name one essential album for electronic musicians.

Postby Toad Wrench » Fri Apr 27, 2012 1:30 am

I was just wondering. I guess most of us here make electronic music, and at least for me hearing other great music is the best inspiratoon i get. I also love to see the lines in music history and follow the trends, to see how genres evolves. So i thought it would be a great idea to make a thread where people can share what they consider to be the essentials in electronic music.

I will start with this: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/kraftwerk/trans_europa_express/

What is one album that you think every electronic musician should hear?

The Glitch Mob - Drink The Sea. It's a right belter of an album, deep and sonically stimulating. Love it.

So many... Can't.. Name..

If you're going for a songwriting aspect, one of my favourites of all time is Demon Days by Gorillaz.

Demon days is great! I think I'm going to listen to that again.
I'm gonna check out that Glitch mob album as well, loved the remix they did of Derezzed for the tron remix album.

Another great one is Rounds by Four tet. I keep coming back to it..

Oh dear, so much to choose between. I would say The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy, since I can't think of any other at the moment. Nice mix between chill tracks (Narayan and Climbatize) and a more aggressive sound (Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up). That would be sound wise. If you're taking lyrics in to account, I have absolutely no idea. Electronic music for me is all about the sound. I barely appreciate vocals.

Oooh yeah some very good mentions. Back to ones that are important, apart from Demon Days I would also agree that The Fat of the Land is a great one. And You've Come a Long Way Baby by Fatboy Slim. Also Discovery by Daft Punk.
