Music Theory

Postby killertomatoism » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:22 pm

I think a full video just on music theory'd be amazing, just on scales, rhythms, how to use sounds together effectively and all that jazz, I find the hardest part of making a track is actually coming up with melodies etc...

I think you'll also find that music theory can't really be taught in one video LoL. Even 7 days wouldn't be enough to cover everything you'd need to know to make heads or tails of it...

Though I'd like to see how Dave would tackle the subject, this is a pretty tall order.

In the meanwhile, here's the best I've found so far: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... ature=plcp

Yeah it's more of a classical sense but nothing says you can't apply it in any way you want.

You can actually do it in Cubase using the score editor, just like any other piece of sheet music, once done in the score editor it appears in the piano roll, if anyone uses cubase, next time you load it up and create a melody have a look at it in the score editor, actually quite interesting, even though I hate music theory
