How to Put a Sample into Reason

Hi, I’m Dave from boyinaband.com and today I’ll show you how to import samples into Reason.

I’ll be using ReDrum to trigger the samples, but you can also use the NN-XT or NN-19 samplers to load samples, they are generally used for pitched samples, though it’s a little more complicated.

A quick side note – those files are in a .rar format.   You’ll need winrar to extract them – check out my tutorial on how to open a .rar file if you are unsure of how to do so.

Right click and create a combinator and put a ReDrum instance inside it.   The combinator is just to keep things tidy.

Now, initialize ReDrum and then click the open file button on a channel strip.

Search for the sample you want – I’ve got my free Electro House sample pack as an example here, you can download that along with all my other free sample packs from my website boyinaband.com.   Choose the sample you want by double clicking it.

And there you have it!   Simple as that.   Your sample is now in ReDrum ready for you to make a beat with.   Now get making some seriously phat tuneage with the awesome samples you have available to you!
